IN A ROWS
Start with a 2 foot putt. Your goal is to see how many in a row you can make before you miss. Set a goal for yourself each day. If the first day it’s 20, then set a goal of 25 for the next day and work up to it in increments of 5. If you achieve your goal from 2 feet, back up to 3 feet, then to 4 feet. Focus on the speed and the line the ball follows into the hole. Make your goal the center of the cup. It may take time to achieve your goal, but be patient and keep at it. Keep track of your goals on your score sheet. As a comparison, the PGA/LPGA tour standard is 75 in a row from each distance.LOVE – EMS (4, 5, 6 foot Corners)
Place 4 tees around a hole at 4 feet from the cup. Give yourself uphill, downhill, left to right and right to left putts. Make sure that there is a little break in each putt so that you have to start the ball outside of the cup. From the first tee try to make 3 in a row while focusing on your speed. Once you have made three in a row, then you can move onto the next tee. Keep doing this until you make three in a row from each tee. Next, move the tees back another foot to 5 feet. Follow the same process, then move back another foot to 6 feet. Note the number of misses from the 12 putts. Again keep track of your progress each day. The PGA/LPGA standard is 3 misses.CHIP INS
Hit 21 chips from a point 1-5 yards off the green. Select three hole locations on the green with an average distance of 15 feet from where you are chipping. Rotate your shots from one hole to the next. Note the number of chips that you hole out, i.e. 1 out of 21. At the same time note the 11th ball of the group. Which is the ball that will be your average when you take the 10 closest and the 10 furthest away from the hole. This drill will help you narrow your focus and give you a better understanding of where to hit chips to make them. Also you can take 20 balls and see many shots you hit before you hole one. Play a game with yourself, if on day 1, you make none, then on day 2 you need to make one before you can move on to the next drill.PITCH INS
Start from 20 yards off the green and define a circle around the hole that is within 15 feet. Your goal is to take 21 balls and hit them inside that circle. Note how many are in and how many are out. If your score the first day is 50/50, then your goal the next day will be to get 60/40. If this is too easy, then make the circle smaller. Then move back to 30, 40 and 50 yards. The idea is to always have a goal in mind. This will make your practice purposeful.
